State Treasurer Josh Mandel stumped at the Southern Ohio GOP Chairs Summit, Saturday.
18 counties were represented at the Southern Ohio GOP Chairs annual summit in Chillicothe, Saturday. Obviously, the meeting focused on generating government change with Republican principles and leaders; however, Ross County Republican Chair Diane Carnes said positive change starts with eliminating political apathy.
"You need to find what are the values of both parties, and then whichever one best suits your philosophy, you go to work for ... I won't stand here and tell you I think Democrats are bad -- I don't -- but I do believe in the conservative principles of the Republican party," said Carnes.
One conservative she is backing in November is State Treasurer Josh Mandel who he seeks election to the US Senate.
"I believe Democrats and Republicans, over many decades, have screwed up Washington," said Mandel, "and in order to change Washington, we've got to change the people we send there."
Mandel cited the Wall Street bail out as a mistake by the politicians who voted for it, which includes his Democrat incumbent opposition, US Senator Sherrod Brown: "They should never have taken our hard-earned tax dollars from Ohio and used it to bail out banks from Wall Street."
Mandel is a Marine Corps veteran who served two tours in Iraq and served as 17th District State Representative before he was elected 48th State Treasurer.
