Brent Cox has been exonerated on 3 of 4 murder charges.
Jurors in the Pickaway County murder trial ended their deliberations Monday: "not guilty"...and no verdicts.
Brent Cox, who was accused of being the gunman in the fatal shooting of Rodney Metcalf October 12th, has been exonerated on 3 of the 4 murder charges.
However, jurors could not decide on a fourth murder count, as well as charges of aggravated robbery and petty theft. Judge Randall Knece had to declare a mistrial on half of the six counts.
It's now up to the prosecution to decide whether to pursue another trial on the three undecided counts. Pickaway County Prosecutor Judy Wolford said she would like a new trial but is open to possible plea agreements.
Earlier this year, Don Shepard pleaded guilty to his role on related charges of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison for his participation in the attempt to steal cash and drugs from Metcalf, and testified in this trial after fingering Cox.
