The former Ohio Governor is asking President Obama's supporters to volunteer to his re-election campaign.
Ohio's former governor, Ted Strickland, is spending the next five months on the campaign trail in support of President Barack Obama. One stop was made in Chillicothe, Tuesday evening, at the Ross County Obama Headquarters on Water Street.
Governor Strickland said he supports the President because he is committed to the American working class, citing tax breaks to small businesses, a fair tax system, and commitments to expanding educational opportunities and quality health care.
The President will face Republican challenger Mitt Romney.
"Mitt Romney has a plan that will turn Medicare into a voucher program, severely cuts aid to students through the Pell Grant Program, and gives additional tax breaks to people who are already very wealthy; on the other hand, " he said, "President Obama wants to keep college affordable, wants to grow the middle class."
He added Ohio could be the state that determines the Presidency: "Consequently, both candidates and both political parties have to work really hard to win the hearts and the minds and the votes of Ohioans."
Thus, Strickland is asking those in support of the President to become involved and volunteer to his campaign.
