Ceremony at Ross County Court House

On June 18, 1812, President James Madison signed a Declaration of War against the United Kingdom of Great Britain. In honor of the 200th anniversary, the Ross County Board of Commissioners is holding an event on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in front of the Ross County Courthouse.

The morning will start with the reading of an invocation, rising the flag, singing the National Anthem, a twenty-one gun salute, the playing of taps, and a benediction.

The featured speaker will be historian Patricia Medert, Chillicothe’s and Ross County’s foremost authority on state & local history. She will talk about Ohio’s involvement in the 3-year conflict.
