Hired two auxiliary police officers
Waverly Council has approved a tentative construction contract to Foil INC. a locally based construction company to replace and resleeve part of the sewer line under Bridge Street. The company will receive $714,012.50 from grants and loan funding for the sewer repairs. The project should get started in the next few months.
Mayor Kempton also said they are in the process of filing papers with the state that shows the population count in Waverly is growing and they hope to regain their City status soon.
Council also hired two auxiliary Police Officers Tuesday night and were excited to see the general fund numbers steadily climbing topping the $500,000 mark for the first time this year.
Waverly Council also heard from a Representative from the Water Company, as he shared his concerns with Council forgiving a Pike County Swim Club bill to the Water Company. The Swim Club filled their pool a day after local hydrants were flushed causing the pool to fill with dirty water. The Swim Club then asked Council to forgive roughly $1,500 due to the chemicals and man power needed to clean the water. Council agreed to forgive that amount, but the Swim Club still owes $4,800 of their past due bill to the Water Department.
