Board looking at three options for November
The Chillicothe City School Board met Monday night. The Board held a lengthy discussion about how to decide between three different types of proposed levies for the November Ballot.
The 1.5 million dollar Earned Income Tax Credit levy was a favorite by far for the Board but Superintendent John Saxton said they want to look at all the options.
The Board will meet Thursday Morning at 7am to discuss whether a Traditional Tax, Property Tax, or Earned Income Tax is the best option to go on the November ballot.
Saxton said the school has already cut close to 4 million dollars in the past 3 years, and the amount of incoming revenue for the school is decreasing. The budget cuts have been felt in every position at the school and a large group of retiring teachers this year is further trimming the staff numbers.
The Board also approved Greg Peck as the new High School Wrestling Coach for this coming school year.
The resignation of Garin Veris was officially accepted Superintendent Saxton said "He has done so much in one year" and "we are better for having him here". Veris has agreed to assist with the transition of a new Athletic Director. The job will be posted Tuesday morning.
