Voters First wants a proposal on the ballot that would require a commission of Ohio voters to draw congressional maps.
Signatures are being collected to put a proposal on the ballot that would establish a commission of Ohio citizens to draw congressional maps.
Ann Henkener, with the League of Women Voters of Ohio, said they need 386,000 valid signatures: "Because our signatures are due to the Secretary of State on the Fourth of July, we have taken as our theme 'Independence Day,' and what we want is the voters of Ohio to have their Independence Day and their freedom from politicians drawing districts."
A petition drive is being held at the Little Lions Shelter House in Yoctangee Park until 7pm, Wednesday. Signatures will also be collected at Goldie Gunlock Park on Thursday and at the Chillicothe Post Office on Friday from 10am to 2pm, both days.
