Chillicothe Police say the bag was found next to a McDonald's dumpster, Thursday.
A backpack with meth-making equipment and suspected methamphetamine was found in Chillicothe, Thursday morning. Police Chief Roger Moore says a sanitation worker found the backpack next to a dumpster at the McDonald's at Bridge and Second streets just after 6:30am.
The Chillicothe Fire Department and BCI&I were called to the scene, which was quarantined off, to neutralize the chemicals.
Jason Lowery, of Chillicothe, has been taken into custody as a suspect as he was earlier seen wearing the same backpack by an officer. He's been charged with illegal manufacture of methamphetamine.
Further investigation led officers to a America's Best Value Inn on East Main Street where meth-making equipment was found in plain view. Lowery's wife, 25-year-old Ashley, and 22-year-old Dustin Gordon, of Portsmouth, were arrested for illegal manufacture of drugs.
25-year-old Brandi Day, of Piketon, was arrested for an unrelated warrant.
