The $150,000 will be used for a road project.
At the Ross County Commissioners meeting, Monday, Steve Shepherd, executive director of SODI, presented a grant to the Chillicothe Improvement Corporation.
"SODI is a community reuse organization for the atomic plant, and ... we're trying to take over the assets of the plant and reuse those to benefit the counties for jobs and job creation," said Shepherd, "and, in doing so, what we've done is to get some additional funding, and that's allowed us to give grants to the four counties."
Pike, Scioto, Jackson, and Ross counties will get $150,000 a piece.
Joe Corbin, President of Ross County's Chillicothe Improvement Corporation, said they will use the $150,000 to complete the existing roadway in the industrial park to near the Chillicothe Baptist Church: "The roadway currently ends just on the other side of State Electric, so we'll pick that up and take that on across to State Route 104."
Corbin estimated the grant represents 25% of the total project cost, and he anticipates work will start in the spring of next year.
