Three Scioto County men were rescued by helicopter Wednesday morning after their kayak overturned.
The Ross County Sheriff's Office is reporting that three Scioto County men were rescued by helicopter after their kayak overturned on the Scioto River Wednesday.
The men entered the river from the Yoctangee Park Annex Wednesday morning and were floating south when they ran into problems with trees in the water.
One of the men was able to make a 911 call to the sheriffs' office at 10:43am from an island in the middle of the river.
The sheriff's office was able to locate the men near Watson Road by using 911 mapping software.
Personnel from Jefferson, Scioto and Union townships, along with deputies, were unable to reach the men with rescue boats so the helicopter was needed to transport them from island to a nearby field.
The men were uninjured from the incident.
