A car matching the description of a Sunday morning robbery in Circleville later crashed in Pickaway County.
Circleville Police and the Pickaway County Sheriff are investigating a car crash, that is possibly connected to a gas station robbery in Circleville.
The Sunday morning crash on Ashville Pike involved a vehicle that matched the description of the car used in a robbery of the Duke & Duchess gas station earlier in the day.
The driver was 39-year-old Jeffrey Lawhun of Circleville, but charges have not been filed in connection with the robbery. Circleville Police say a man robbed the gas station at 7:44am. The suspect had paint on his face and was wearing a dark colored bandanna.
The suspect fled the store and ran toward the rear of the building. A vehicle matching the description of the get-away car crashed into a tree on Ashville Pike about 9:41am.
Lawhun was transported by helicopter to OSU Hospital where he is in critical condition.
The Pickaway County Sheriff reports that Lawhun was driving south on Ashville Pike near Duvall Road when he crossed the center line and went off the east side of the roadway. The vehicle went through a cornfield, then back into a yard before hitting a tree.
