Security and campaign officials have asked the city to make traffic changes for the Tuesday campaign rally

Gov. Mitt Romney is expected to arrive in Chillicothe at around 7pm on Tuesday. Some changes will be made to the event site such as adding a stage, news platform and bleachers. Planners are now expecting at least 5,000 people. The campaign and/or secret service have asked that the city make the following changes to traffic in Chillicothe for this event:

Monday, August 13
At 7am will close North Paint Street from Main to the Law Enforcement Complex alley to all vehicular traffic so they can set up bleachers and begin to prepare the court house steps.

No parking signs will be posted on both sides of east and west Main Street to the first alley (Gazette alley and Chamber alley) for Tuesday.
There will be no parking signs on both sides of North Paint Street from Second Street south to the Law Enforcement Complex alley for Tuesday.
No parking signs will also be on both sides of South Paint Street from Main to first alley south for Tuesday.

Tuesday, August 14
At 7am close North Paint Street from Law Enforcement Complex alley to Second Street and East SecondStreet at Mulberry Street including the alleys mid-block near the Majestic Theatre. We need to route Paint Street southbound traffic to westbound West Second Street.
The Event Staff will finish setting up bleachers and begin to set up barricades and metal detectors at this time. There will be barricades at Main and Walnut and Main and Mulberry Streets. They will block off Main Street approximately one hour prior to Romney’s arrival to begin to detour traffic. There will be two Officers there in cruisers to direct traffic. Detour signs will be posted by Tuesday morning routing traffic around the event.

Alternative parking for the event has been arranged at OU-C Shoemaker Center parking lot and the Ross County Service Center parking lot. City Transit buses will shuttle people to the courthouse for the event and return to those parking facilities after the conclusion between 5pm-9pm Tuesday.
