CC News has confirmed that Richard McKee has agreed to a plea deal to avoid trial on charges he engaged in sex with a minor.

A plea bargain has been made in the case of former Chillicothe Police Officer Richard "Eric" McKee.

The Ross County Prosecutor's Office confirmed McKee, who had been charged with 10 counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor (third-degree felonies), pleaded guilty to five of the charges in exchange for the other five to be dropped.

McKee had been charged after allegations surfaced that he engaged in sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old girl.  Prosecutor Matt Schmidt said the events began while McKee was an officer and continued after he retired in March of 2011, but he added none of the sexual offenses took place while McKee was on duty.

McKee had already pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual imposition, importuning, and unauthorized use of an Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway in May.

Sentencing has been set for September 17th, and Prosecutor Matt Schmidt said the state is recommending two years of prison time.

He anticipates McKee will serve out the sentence in a facility in Lima after his initial stint in the corrections reception center.
