Middle school and high school students will have an earlier start each day for their class schedules

Chillicothe City Schools conduct their opening day classes this Wednesday, August 22nd. This year's calendar for Chillicothe school students includes a different bell schedule, which will require getting up much earlier for middle and high schools. Chillicothe High/Middle School students' day will begin at 7:30am, with high schoolers dismissing at 2:13pm and middle schoolers at 2:15pm. Doors will open at 7:15am.

According to Superintendent Jon Saxton, the change is being implemented to allow bus drivers enough time to drop off high/middle school students and return to transport the elementary. He said elementary students were frequently being kept 30-40 minutes after their release time waiting for buses, last year.

"It just makes sense to make sure that we insure that we have the right amount of time to run those routes and not have to have extra expense involved in supervising students at the end of the day, especially when elementary students just want to get home and play," said Saxton.

Chillicothe Elementary students will have an 8:45am daily start, through 3:15pm each day.
