Pickaway County Sheriff Dwight Radcliff is the nation's longest-serving sheriff.
Members of the Ohio Senate recognized Pickaway County Sheriff Dwight Radcliff, Wednesday, for his more than four decades of service to the law enforcement community and the people of Pickaway County.
Senators Bob Peterson (R- Sabina) and Tim Schaffer (R- Lancaster) presented Radcliff with a resolution honoring his efforts on the floor of the Ohio Senate.
“Sheriff Radcliff has served the people of Pickaway County with honor and integrity for more than 45 years, and is an inspiration to his deputies,” said Peterson and Schaffer. “On behalf of all the members of the Ohio Senate, we thank him for his dedication and service and wish him well in his retirement.”
Radcliff, who took office in 1965, is the nation’s longest-serving sheriff. He began his career in law enforcement as a sheriff deputy, and in all his years of service has never had to fire his weapon.
His father Charles also served as Pickaway County Sheriff for 30 years.
