The Civil Service Commission overturned Vaughan's termination in a 2-1 vote, Tuesday.
The Civil Service Commission of Chillicothe has reinstated Bruce Vaughan as city fire chief, Tuesday. According to Nancy Graham of the Civil Service Commission, the commission did not affirm the termination made by Mayor Jack Everson in a 2-1 vote.
The commission also modified the discipline from termination to 60 days without pay.
The firing in April stemmed from a few incidents that occurred since 1996, with the latest being when firefighter oxygen bottles were not tested in a proper time frame.
Chillicothe Mayor Jack Everson says the 60-day suspension is retroactive, meaning Vaughan could return to work on Wednesday.
