Freeland is accused of sexually abusing his step-children and the son of a family friend.
In two and a half hours of testimony by only two young adult witnesses, there were many objections and approaches to the bench, as well as tears shed by the step-son and step-daughter witnesses. In the opening statement, the prosecution outlined how Gary Freeland sexually abused his step-son, his step-daughter, and the son of a church friend, in locations in Chillicothe and outside of Washington Court House.
The defense outlined the span of time it took the accusations to be made and acted upon, as well as a lack of corroborating evidence, like cuts in skin, a sexually transmitted virus, and gaps in memory.
Following graphic testimony of child molestation, the trial has recessed for the day; the trial will resume at 9 a.m., Wednesday, where jurors will hear from two Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies.
The step-son and step-daughter originally lived with Freeland in Chillicothe and then later moved with him to outside Washington Court House.
Most the accusations were said to have occurred at Freeland's Chillicothe home in the 1990s.
