The center in Chillicothe would house ex-offenders under the supervision of the Adult Parole Authority.

State Representative Gary Scherer announced, Monday, that the State Controlling Board approved $265,082.86 in funding to Renouveau Design, Inc. for the design of a residential reentry center in Chillicothe.

The center would house ex-offenders under the supervision of the Adult Parole Authority. Because of Chillicothe’s lack of halfway houses and transitional housing, ex-offenders often were sent to Cincinnati, Columbus, or Lebanon.

“I am excited to be able to announce this approval by the Controlling Board to enhance this facility and create jobs for Ross County,” Rep. Scherer said. “I met with CCI Warden Norm Robinson and RCI Warden Tim Buchanan and toured both facilities several weeks ago.  I met with many corrections officers and administrative staff.  I am impressed and pleased with the high degree of professionalism they exhibit.”

The reentry center will be located adjacent to the Chillicothe Correctional Institution, which previously housed the Ross Correctional Camp.
