Chillicothe Council heard a little trash talk and some gambling woes.
Finance chair Jeremy Siberell heard feedback from council members just before a third reading to raise the city trash collection fee from $10 to $15 a month.
He asked that the ordinance not be read for passage, so it could be discussed further in committee - especially about a different way to pay for different amounts of trash.
The suggestion is one price for a set number of tags for bags of trash each month. Fewer bags would mean less expense for customers.
The other consideration was that the downtown gets trash pickup twice a week - it keeps the city center cleaner, but is having the same fee fair?

Law Director Sherri Rutherford gave council a briefing about a lawsuit over a gambling bust.
She explained that the "Buckeye Internet Cafe" on Main Street was busted March 23rd, and about 80 computers were confiscated - and are still being held as evidence in the criminal case.
The civil counter-suit includes a claim of $2.4 million dollars against the city for lost income, based on what they had made before the bust. But if they were making more than $14,000 a day, they have not paid taxes on that.
The criminal part of the case remains confidential, but the facts of the civil case are open to the public.

Council also passed, on first reading, the labor agreement for the non-unionized city employees as promised last session.
