A proposed new license plate would feature the Superman logo and the slogan "Truth, Justice and the American Way."
A proposed Ohio license plate honoring Superman has taken another step forward, as Rep. Bill Patmon (D, Cleveland) took the measure before the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee.
Patmon says he was assured by committee chair Sen. Tom Patton that the proposed Superman plates would pass out of committee and go to a full vote and to Gov. John Kasich's desk by the end of the year.
The comic book character Superman was created during the Great Depression by Cleveland teenagers Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
Creation of the license plate was pushed by the Siegel and Shuster Society, a group that promotes Cleveland as the place where Superman was created, which includes helping to maintain the home in the Glenville neighborhood where Siegel and Shuster created The Man of Steel.
