RCI Prisoner Dies Before Release

He was found unresponsive two days before he was to be freed.

A prisoner set to be released from the Ross Correctional Institution last Sunday was found dead in his cell on Friday morning.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the State Highway Patrol is investigating the death of 34-year-old, Michael A. Ferrara Jr., as an aggravated homicide.

Ferrara was found unconscious in his cell at 4:50 a.m. Friday. He was taken to Adena Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Ferrara had served a four-year sentence for of burglary and receiving stolen property. He was to be released from RCI on Sunday.

Ferrara shared the cell with another inmate but further details are yet to be made public.
