The Symposium will be held on Tuesday March 5th at Allen Elementary and Chillicothe Middle School.
On Tuesday, March 5th over 150 educators from 5 states including Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia will visit two Chillicothe City Schools as part of The Leader in Me Symposium.
Both Allen Elementary and Chillicothe Middle School will welcome educator-guests to see the program in action as part of a two-day event featuring keynote speakers, workshop sessions, and site visits. Those attending will have the opportunity to see the transformative effects of The Leader in Me progam.
“We’re excited to show educators what The Leader in Me is all about! It’s making a difference in our schools, in our teachers, and most importantly in the lives of our students” commented Chillicothe Superintendent Jon Saxton.
In addition to the site visits, participants will hear nationally renowned speakers including Erin Gruwell, Gary McGuey, Muriel Summers, and International Bestselling author Sean Covey. Gruwell was the inspiring teacher portrayed by Hilary Swank in “Freedom Writers” and McGuey has served as an Executive Coach at the White House Administration and is the author of several books including The Mentor: Leadership Trumps Bullying. Summers, Principal at A.B. Combs Elementary in Raleigh, North Carolina provided the keynote address at the 2012 Chillicothe-Ross Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. Sean Covey, son of the late Stephen Covey, is also an author of several widely acclaimed books for teenagers and children whose work is used as part of the Leader in Me Program including The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens and The Seven Habits of Happy Kids. In addition to Sean’s passion for education he is also an outstanding business author with his most recent book The 4 Disciplines of Execution becoming The Wall Street Journal #1 Business Bestseller this past fall.
Saxton noted, “this visit provides us with the opportunity to showcase our city and we believe that in order for us to have a thriving community, our schools and their students must thrive first. The Leader in me is helping us to do just that!”
Other leadership activities are planned at other Chillicothe City Schools throughout the remainder of the school year. For more information on the Chillicothe City Schools click here
