Chillicothe City School employees found someone had broken into the McArthur building and set fire to the stage.
Police are investigating a breaking and entering of the old McArthur school building in Chillicothe. On Wednesday, District Superintendent Jon Saxton told authorities that an employee found that someone entered the building and started a fire on the stage in the gymnasium.
Officers found a burnt area on the stage, as well as damage to the stage curtains, soot on the ceiling, and a used fire extinguisher on the gym floor.
Saxton said no employees had been in the building for a month.
Officials believe those responsible entered the school through the roof hatch. They are seeking suspects.
