The landmark home in Hillsboro is in danger of being torn down to make room for condos.
Hillsboro City Council is in the process of considering a rezoning request by the owner of the Mother Thompson House following an intent to demolish the building and erect condos in its place.
Bob Lambert of the Highland County Historical Society, doesn't want to see that happen. Lambert says he wants to save the city's heritage. He says the home is a national treasure.
The home has been featured in a Ken Burns documentary about prohibition that aired on PBS. It provided Mother Thompson and her followers refuge while they worked to begin the Temperance Movement.
Lambert is now calling for the community to lend its support so that acquiring the property could become a valid possiblity.
He says the community can help by calling the Highland Historical Society and voicing their concerns.
The Mother Thompson home was built in the 1800s.
