Another woman, who allegedly fell asleep after drinking, said she woke to find her 1-year-old was gone.
A local woman contacted Ross County Sheriff's Deputies after she woke to find her 1-year-old was missing. According to Sheriff George Lavender, Skyla Eblin said she had been drinking with Holly Wheeler, of Waverly, at Eblin's Anderson Station Road home, early Monday, and fell asleep at 1:30am.
At around 5:30am, Eblin found her son and Wheeler were gone. Eblin reportedly told deputies she made contact with Wheeler, who told her that she and the child were stuck in a ditch on US 23.
Authorities found the child, Wheeler, and two of Wheeler's children in the vehicle in a ditch at the intersection of US 23 and Maple Lane near Massieville. According to the Sheriff, they had been in the ditch for four hours, and Wheeler hadn't tried to contact help.
Wheeler reportedly said she took Eblin's child with her because Eblin would not wake up when she was ready to leave.
Wheeler was arrested and charged with child endangering and interference with custody.
Authorities say additional charges are possible.
