Low numbers of volunteers and cost is to blame
The Board of Directors for the Good Samaritan Food Pantry have decided to cancel the Thanksgiving Dinner Food Distribution this year.
Good Samaritan Treasurer Steve Neal says the Thanksgiving Basket project typically costs around $12,000 for the one meal so they've decided to focus the money on serving the daily needs of Good Sam's clients.
Neal says the food pantry will be open for normal operation on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of Thanksgiving week.
He says the Thanksgiving dinner distribution in 2014 will be reevaluated at this time next year.
