A judge will hear arguments as to whether Greater Medical Advance in Wheelersburg should be shut down.
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (AP) _ A southern Ohio judge will hear arguments, Wednesday, why a medical clinic described by authorities as little more than a drug house should be permanently closed. The operator of Greater Medical Advance in Wheelersburg and the clinic's doctor face charges of corrupt activity and drug trafficking.
Scioto County Common Pleas Court Judge William Marshall temporarily closed the clinic last week and scheduled the hearing today to decide whether the order should be permanent.
The facility was the last so-called `pill mill' in Scioto County, a place where tens of thousands of painkillers were allegedly prescribed or dispensed to almost anyone who walked through its doors.
The owner of the building where the clinic is located has denied any knowledge of the goings-on or illegal activity.
