The fatal accident occurred in Chillicothe, Friday evening, while a separate two vehicle crash resulted in injuries.
The Chillicothe Police Department has confirmed one person is dead after a crash on Piatt Avenue at Seminole. The accident involved a pedestrian and a vehicle at 6:22pm, Friday.
The pedestrian killed was 70-year-old Barbara Smith of Seneca Drive Chillicothe. She was walking her dogs, when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing at Piatt Avenue. Smith was pronounced dead at Adena Regional Medical Center.
The Ohio Highway Patrol reported a separate injury crash on U.S. Route 50 at about 6:45pm.
A 1999 Chevrolet driven by 35-year-old John Hansford of Chillicothe, was traveling west. A 1995 Pontiac Sunfire driven by 34-year-old Rhonda Adkins of Chillicothe was turning left onto Route 50 from the Scioto-Woods Apartment Complex. Hansford struck the Adkins vehicle, forcing it off the right side of the road.
Hansford's right front passenger- 35-year-old Heather Hansford and a 9-year-old female passenger were taken to Adena Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Ms. Adkins was taken to OSU Medical Center by helicopter. A left-rear passenger, age 4-years-old was taken to Children's Hospital by helicopter.
