Chillicothe Council heard concerns about negotiations with the FOP.
Mayor Jack Everson told council the result of negotiations with the police union did not end well.
The main issue was that the city received the fact-finder's report not only after business hours on Friday, January 20th - but a day later than the 14-day-window requires.
That slowed the city's response, required within a seven-day window - and ended up with only the Fraternal Order of Police's conditions in the mandated agreement. And so the city is asking for the report to be thrown out, for one last chance to negotiate.
But if the state board denies the city's appeal, nothing council or the mayor can do will change anything...and payroll will be about $30,000 higher this year.
Everson is calling a special session 6:30 Monday evening to vote in favor of resolving this.
He also said he will ask non-bargaining employees to accept the same condition with the employee union, AFSCME.
The mayor also asked council on how to save more by having them choose a different health plan, but legalities may prevent that.
