Some state leaders have proposed getting rid of township governments
February 1st was Township Government Day, as emphasis was paid to how townships impact our daily living in many parts of Ohio.
Although it has been around for hundreds of years, townships are hurting under the budget crunch that took away much of the local government funds in Ohio.
Matt DeTemple is executive director of the Ohio Township Association.
DeTemple believes township government is still important, where locally most townships are responsible for rural fire and EMS services and cemetary maintenance.
