An investigation into Medicare and Medicaid fraud is the reason for the raid.
Federal Agents along with state officials raided Fayette Pharmacy in Washington Court House, Thursday.
A spokesman from the Ohio Attorney General's office said that agents from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Ohio Attorney General's office, the Ohio Pharmacy Board, and the Inspector General were involved in executing a search warrant on the business.
A Law Enforcement Coordinator for the U.S. Attorney's Office confirmed that the raid was the result of a Medicaid and Medicare Fraud Investigation.
According to an employee, agents made entry into the business at around 8:30 Thursday morning through a back door. Employees were inside the business during the raid and the business was closed to customers. Agents were seen carrying dozens of cardboard boxes filled with paperwork and files from the business.
The raid lasted until about 2:30pm Thursday. At which time, the store opened up to conduct business as usual.
Fayette Pharmacy is owned by REM Corporation, who operates a chain of retail pharmacies throughout the state.
