The end of Bob Parker's term will mark 34 years in office.

A name will be missing from the Pickaway County ballot for the first time in 34 years.

Pickaway County Engineer Bob Parker, who was first elected to the post in 1978, said, "I'm at the end of my, I guess, political career, and I've decided that I'm going to retire, sit back and relax, and enjoy my grandchildren."

Parker said one of the most memorable projects during his career was the bridge on Commercial Point Road over the Scioto River, which was completed last year.

Deputy Engineer Chris Mullins appears on the ballot unopposed for the vacancy on the Democratic slot. The Republicans do not have a candidate listed on the ballot.
