Council dealt with union negotiations Monday night, and heard a financial update - both good and bad.

Human Resources Chair Napoleon Cross introduced an ordinance during the session to allow the mayor to ratify the negotiations with the police union.  Cross said he had the three-day receipt rule and three-read rule waived to allow the mayor to move ahead on it.

This is the results of the"fact finder's report" that Mayor Everson felt was forced on the city...and had appealed.

Council also briefly went into executive session to discuss negotiations with the firefighters' union.

As the first quarter nears its close, Auditor Tom Spetnagel Jr. gave good news on last month, and not-so-good for this one.

The good news is that the revenue has been steady throughout 2012, and even the mild winter saved on salt.

And the bad?  Estate tax collections have been low, and the municipal court judge election cost more than expected.

He says other city income streams look good...so far.
