Local health officials are urging teens to make good choices and practice safe driving.

Prom time is underway starts for area high school juniors and seniors and the Ross County Health District hopes that those attending a prom in the area will make safe driving a priority.

Vonda Kern, coordinator of the health district’s Safe Communities program. said they are working with local tuxedo rental shops and flower shops to place a card in tux jacket pockets and with flowers ordered for the occasion.

Kern added that schools deserve praise for centralizing more of their prom activities, thus eliminating much of the late-night driving. "Still, parents need to remind their kids to pay attention to the road and to practice defensive driving, as well as ensuring that they obey all traffic laws," Kern said.
