Participants will get the HPV vaccine for free.
The Ross County Health District is supporting a study involving the Human Papillomavirus vaccine and Appalachian women. Researchers from Ohio State will begin collecting data in October from women ages 18-26.
"They will get the vaccine for free; it's normally a very expensive vaccine in the neighborhood of $175 a dose for a 3-dose series," said Rami Yoakum. "They'll also get a $10 gift card for each visit."
Participants will make four visits to the health district in the year-long study and will get a $10 gift card each time.
