Pioneers Baseball Coach Ron Allen hit the career milestone in their 6-2 win over Westfall Wednesday.
Wednesday was a big day in the high school career of Zane Trace Baseball Coach Ron Allen, as he picked up win number 300 in a 6-2 decision over the Westfall Mustangs.
The win also keeps the Pioneers in the hunt near the top of the SVC standings, trailing lead leader (4-0) Adena by one game.
ZT took a 2-0 lead into the top of the 7th inning, where they added four insurance runs for a 6-0 lead, then limited the Mustangs to a couple of runs in their last at-bat for the 6-2 victory.
Dalton Burger starred for the Pioneers with two-hits and three RBI's. Phil Heskett scattered six hits over six innings of work to gain the win.
Elsewhere, Adena ran their SVC mark to (4-0) with a 1-0 win over (2-2) Unioto. Kirk Yates struck-out 14 Shermans batters, but the hard-luck loser on the mound was Unioto's Bryce Arledge. Arledge is credited with the pitching loss, despite the act he threw a one-hitter. The Warriors score their loan run in the 5th inning when Reid Hutchison was hit by a pitch, stole second and later scored on a squeeze play.
Also in SVC action, Piketon beat Paint Valley 11-1 and Huntington gained their first conference win with a 17-1 decision over Southeastern.
