Shermans Fare Well @ Pickerington CC Invite
Unioto boys and girls teams each place 7th

The Unioto Cross Country teams competed Saturday at the Pickerington XC Classic at Pickerington North.

The boys meet saw the Shermans Ethan Richter finish 6th in a time of 17:00 followed by 27th Brenson Zambarrano 17:49, 50th David Magda (Freshman) 18:26, 63rd Anthony Edwards 18:43, 107th Jesse Griesheimer 19:36,131st Ethan Richter 20:08, and 194th Luke Sinclair 21:17.

The team was 7th behind Dublin Coffman and Dublin Scioto, and beating Central Ohio Perenial Powers Olentangy Orange and Pickerington Central.  There were 360 runners in the race.

The Lady Shermans finished 7th in their race as well running by far the best race by a Unioto team in the schools' cross country history.  Last year's team was the second in the past three years to qualify to regionals (and only the second in school history)  and this year's team would have placed 5 runners a minute or more AHEAD of the number one runner at the same invitational last year.

With a 23 second spread from 1-5 they were lead by Senior Mallory Retherford at 21:45 (29th).  She was followed closely by first year runner Kela Harkins (21:45) (30th), Sophomore Julia Hacker (21:48) (32nd).  Julia was the top returning runner from last year and ran 1:15 faster this year.

Julia was followed by freshman Elena Knipp (22:03) (37th) and 2 time returning all SVC runner Kristen Cook (22:09) (39th).

The entire scoring team earned medalist honors with top 40 finishes.  Other varsity finishers were Andrea Alcorn-Dominguez 24:00 (74th). Andrea was :57 faster than last year, and Molli Waller 27:07 (137th).

There were 213 runners in the race.
