Mustangs Top Pesky Bearcats
Westfall holds-off paint Valley 21-7 Friday to stay unbeaten in SVC Football

Paint Valley had a plan which kept them in the game until late in the fourth quarter, but Westfall scored to put the contest out of reach 21-7.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Bearcats scored first at 11:53 in the second quarter on a five yard scoring pass from Anthony McFadden to Teagen McFadden to cap a 16 play/65 yard drive for a 7-0 lead. Mark Clifford added the PAT.

Westfall tied the game on a 73 yard TD run from Taylor Salmons to cap-off an 80 yard/3 play drive at 1:57 left in the first half, which was the score at intermission.

The Mustangs got their first lead of the game at 8:20 left in the third period as Salmons ran 1y yards for the TD to complete a 53 yard/5 play drive as Christian Salvito hit the PAT for a 14-7 lead.

Paint Valley made a big defense stand with Westfall's back against the wall on a fourth down play, but the Bearcats were unable to capitalize on a fourth down play of their own at the Mustangs 11 yard line, giving Westfall the ball back on down.

Westfall then put the contest away, driving 89 yards in 11 plays when Trent Williamson ran 13 yards for the TD at 2:48 left in the game for the 21-7 win.

The Bearcats defense limited Westfall to 254 total yards and even bigger, checking Williamson on only 3/20 for just 39 yards passing. Westfall did get big help from Taylor Salmons, rushing for 115 yards on 15 carries and scoring twice.

Paint Valley had 140 total yards, 110 on the ground.

Westfall improves to (3-0/5-1) as Paint Valley drops to (1-2/2-3)
