Chillicothe held on for a 57-52 win over Groveport Madison Tuesday night at Hatton Gym.

The Lady Cavs (2-1) jumped out to a 25-15 lead at intermission but allowed a 48-32 lead slip away.

"They (Groveport) brought a lot of pressure on us in the second half" explained coach Shawn Blue as his young squad had trouble with turnovers committing 33 on the night.

The Crusiers cut the lead to one several times late, but the Cavs' never let Groveport get over the hump thanks to free throws down the stretch. Bri Dawes hit seven shots from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. As a team, the Cavs sank 20 of 29 free throws.

Dawes led the Cavs with 24 points, Kayla Keener had 19, Jenna Holton scored 12 and Haley Large added two more.

Chillicothe opens SEOAL play Saturday night with Logan at Hatton Gym.
