The top teams in Scioto Valley Conference will go head-to-head this week in a battle for first place in girls and boys basketball.

The start time for Thursday girls game between SVC co-leaders Unioto and Adena will be earlier than normal, since the JV game will be only two quarters instead of of four.

Both teams have lost to clubs, that the other has beaten. For example, the defending SVC champ Lady Warriors have an (11-1) overall record, with the lone non-conference loss against Miami Trace in their second game of the season. Unioto beat Miami Trace, but lost to Logan Elm and Columbus Hartley. Adena beat Logan Elm.

Unioto is playing without 6'0 center Tori Cox for the rest of the season, lost to ACL surgery over the holidays.

94 Country WKKJ will broadcast the game with airtime at 5:30pm from Frankfort.


In Friday's boys game, SVC unbeaten (5-0/7-1) Zane Trace hosts once-beaten (4-1/7-2) Piketon. The Pioneers lone loss is to Logan Elm, while Piketon has lost to Unioto and Eastern Pike.

Friday's game will also be broadcast on 94 Country WKKJ, with airtime at approximately 7:20pm.
