Cavs Ready for Post Season
Winter Sports teams on verge of tournament draws.

GIRLS BASKETBALL:

The tournament draw for the Girls’ Basketball post season will be held Sunday afternoon. The Lady Cavs are 2-6 in SEAOL play and 5-13 on the season with four regualr season games remaining.

Again this season, Shawn Blue’s Lady Cavaliers are headed to the 43 team Central District tournament. The draw will be held at Gahanna Lincoln High School. Most other area schools will be part of the Southeast District draw at Jackson High School Sunday.

The Central District boasts some of the state’s strongest teams including Reynoldsburg, Dublin Coffman and Gahanna Lincoln.

The Cavs’ run was ended by Teays Valley at Pickerington North last February.

BOYS BASKETBALL:

Drew Meister’s Cavaliers will be in next Sunday at Jackson High School in the Southeast District draw. The Cavs are currently in second place in the SEOAL at 5-3 and are 6-11 overall with five regular season games remaining.

With fewer teams involved (10) as opposed to the Girls’ Central District, there are predetermined dates and times for the games to be played at Southeastern High School.

Participating teams include, Chillicothe, Circleville, Fairland, Hillsboro, Jackson, McClain, Miami Trace, Unioto, Waverly, Washington Court House.

There will be two semi-final games on February 19th at 6:15pm and 8pm, for final games February 22nd at 6pm and 8:30pm and February 23rd at 5pm and 8pm with the winners advancing to the Division II District Tournament at the Convo in Athens at OU.

The Cavs fell in the Regional Semi-Final to St. Clairsville last March.

BOWLING:

The Sectional Bowling tournament will be held at Shawnee Lanes on February 14th.

Schools participating include (Boys and Girls): Chillicothe, Circleville, Hillsboro, Huntington, Logan, Logan Elm, Miami Trace, New Lexington, St Joseph Central, Unioto, Washington CH, Wellston, Westfall, Zane Trace.

Three teams and three individuals not on a qualifying team will advance to the district tournament at Shawnee Lanes, February 22, 2013.

Becky Crawford's Girls are 9-4 in head-to-head competition. The Lady Cavs finished 3rd in the South Central Ohio Conference Kick Off, 4th in the Beast of the East tourney but their crowning moment this season came by winning the First Capital Baker Bash.

Keith Proehl's Boys are 8-5 and opened the season with a win of the SCOC Kick Off and placed 3rd in the State Kick Off.

SWIMMING:

Swimmers will be headed to Ohio University on Saturday February 9th.

The times at OU will be measured with those in the Central District to determine advancement to the District Swim Meet in Columbus the following weekend.

No Cavalier Swimmers qualified for last year’s District Meet.

Saturday's final regular season swim meet with Teays Valley will not be rescheduled.

Pam Allen's Girls had five 2nd place finishes this season with two meet wins and placing 3rd twice. The Boys won two meets, placed 2nd four times, 3rd twice and came in 4th only once.

WRESTLING:

Chillicothe will be among 11 schools at Alexander High School in the Division II Sectional on February 15th and 16th. The Seeding will take place on February 14th.

Schools participating include: Athens, Chillicothe, Fairland, Fairfield Union, Gallia Academy, Jackson, Marietta, New Lexington, Sheridan, Vinton County, Warren.

The Cavs have gone head-to-head in dual meets with Warren twice, splitting the season series.

In Invitationals this season, Mike Peck's Cavaliers finished 5th at Circleville, 4th at Jackson, 3rd at Gallia Academy and Amanda Clearcreek and 8th at Miami Trace.

In dual matches, the Cavs are 12-3.

The 2013 SEOAL Meet will be Saturday February 9th at Chillicothe.
