For the second game in a row, the Shermans take advantage of a strong fourth quarter to pull away from the Bearcats 78-50.
The Unioto Shermans are one win away from an SVC Boys Basketball title after beating Paint Valley Friday, 78-50.
The game was close through the first three quarters, with Unioto leading after each stop; 13-11, 30-24 and 50-40, before outscoring the Bearcats 28-10 in the final period.
Unioto had three players in double figures, led by Nick Corcoran and "super-sub" Alek Adkins with 19 points each. "Super-sub" Alek Adkins. Nick Overly added 10.
(2-8/7-9) Paint Valley was led by Mason McCloy's 15 points and 11 reboinds, followed by Clay Stratton and Anthony McFadden with 13 & 11 points respectively.
Unioto shot 25/66 for 38%- including 10/28 from the arc, while Paint Valley was 17/56 from the field for 30%- including 4/16 from the arc.
At the foul line, the Shermans was 12/18 and PV 12/18. Unioto forced 22 turnovers while the Tanks had 13.
Rebounding was 38-35 Unioto.
The (11-1/14-3) Shermans will play for the SVC championship next Friday at Adena, which will be broadcast on 94 Country WKKJ and IHeart Radio.
